After six years of thoughtful planning, the Town of Grimshaw opened its first off-leash dog park next to the Mighty Peace Veterinary Clinic on June 1.
The park is of sufficient size to accommodate both small and large dogs. The grassy park is completely fenced for running and playing. It has benches, doggie-bag dispensers and waste receptacles.
In 2018, the Town of Grimshaw Community Services Advisory Board envisioned the plan to develop an off-leash dog park. The response from community consultation indicated both a desire and a need for this park.
Within the first week of opening, one resident emailed Director of Community Services Tracy Halerewich saying, “The three of us went out to the dog park today. Both of my boys declared it a howling success! Thank you to the Town and Community Services for doing this for our furry friends! George Chuckvar, Maximus and Koda.”
The Community Services Department will conduct weekly inspections and maintain the new park.
