Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea

In Case You Missed It

In honour of 2023 World Mental Health Day, Northern Sunrise County FCSS and AboutU partnered to host an event in true Alice in Wonderland fashion.

The Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea was held on October 10 at the Peace River Ag Hall.

To encourage engagement with service providers, participants were issued a key when they completed an activity. Three keys provided access to the Mad Hatter Tea.

Mental health is a vital aspect of human well-being, but it is often neglected or misunderstood. According to the World Health Organization, one in four people in the world will be affected by a mental or neurological disorder at some point in their lives.

Many people who suffer from mental health problems face discrimination, isolation, and lack of access to quality care.

Mental health awareness campaigns aim to break the stigma and promote help-seeking. Alice in Wonderland has been utilized for mental health campaigns across the world for many years.

Event organizers provided opportunities for people to access mental health supports while enjoying an afternoon of fun. They were excited that it took participants a while to make their way through “the tunnel” and to receive information and supports.

Organizers AboutU and Northern Sunrise County FCSS would like to thank the volunteers who helped set up and bake the treats for the event, and they are excited to hold the next Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea on October 10, 2024.
