Circle of Hope: Collaborative safety planning for women leaving a violent relationship
Presented by the Peace River Regional Women’s Shelter, this program is to connect people to protect and empower survivors of intimate partner violence. Trained facilitators meet with the woman and she identifies her supports and chooses whom she would like in her Circle of Hope. The facilitators invite all supports for a circle meeting. During the meeting the safety issues are named and a safety plan that everyone supports is created. The circle continues to meet to monitor and adjust the safety plan as needed. Reporting Suspicious and Criminal Activity
The Town of Grimshaw encourages all members of the public to report any and all suspicious or criminal activity directly to the local Peace Regional RCMP Detachment. Call no matter how small it may be. Residents may feel they do not want to bother the RCMP for smaller crimes; however, all reported crime is used to determine the overall crime rates and the amount of police resources required. For emergencies, call 9-11, and for non-emergencies, call 780-624-6677. We are the eyes and ears of our community, and we each have an important role to play in a safe community.

Snow Angels Program

Snow Angels is an awareness and recognition program that encourages residents in Grimshaw to help a neighbour in need by shovelling their snow. It also acknowledges those volunteering to shovel snow as a Town of Grimshaw Snow Angel. To become a Snow Angel, all you need to do is shovel for a person in need in your neighbourhood, particularly seniors and people with disabilities. Your efforts will help create a safer community for everyone and will help people meet their civic responsibility to remove ice and snow from their sidewalks within 48 hours of snowfall. If you have been helped, nominate your Snow Angel. Nominated Snow Angels receive public recognition and a free lunch from Step Up Eatery.
