Kim Reuther, a diagnostic imaging technologist at the Fairview Health Complex, was awarded Alberta’s Order of Excellence in October, which is the highest honour the Province of Alberta can bestow and is an official part of the Canadian Honours System.
Reuther is being recognized for her advocacy for AEDs in schools and for advocating for emergency dispatchers to help callers through using defibrillators when someone is having a cardiac arrest.
Eight Albertans members were inducted at the Edmonton ceremony in October bringing the total membership of the Alberta Order of Excellence to 220.
“The Alberta Order of Excellence is an opportunity to celebrate the women and men in our province who have contributed so much for the greater good,” said Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani. “While the recipients this year have made stellar contributions to many different fields, what they share is a dedication and commitment to service and leadership.”
Ruether was also recognized in 2022 with an RhPAP Rhapsody Healthcare Heroes Award by the Rural Health Professions Action Plan for her AED advocacy.
