PRAMP Monitors Air Quality at Local Schools

The Peace River Air Monitoring Program (PRAMP) has installed air quality sensors in several schools around the region to monitor localized air quality data in real time.

In early 2024, PRAMP was approached by the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division to install PurpleAir sensors at their schools.

PRAMP has installed sensors at Good Shepherd School in Peace River, Holy Family School in Grimshaw and Rosary School in Manning. Peace River School Division has a PurpleAir at Lloyd Garrison School in Berwyn.

The PurpleAir device is a small air quality sensor that measures the concentration of fine particulate matter in the air. The sensors are known for their affordability and ease of use.

PurpleAir devices throughout the PRAMP airshed can provide residents with timely data without the need for being near an air monitoring station.

Data from these monitors, and others from local municipal offices and private residences, are available on the PRAMP website at prampairshed.ca.

PRAMP also has a new presentation available for bookings. Contact PRAMP to book, “Wildfire Smoke: Know Your Risk and Protect Your Health” for classrooms, community groups, businesses and agencies.
